Los Tarrales Natural Reserve is located on the southern slopes of the Atitlán Volcano, in Guatemala’s Pacific foothills. The reserve is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours from Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala, and about 1.5 hours from Panajachel on Lake Atitlán.

Most guests arrive by private vehicle, rental car, or private transfer. Under normal weather and road conditions, Los Tarrales is accessible by a standard passenger vehicle, and four-wheel drive is not required.

For guests who prefer not to drive, our team can arrange private transportation on your behalf through our network of trusted, independent transportation providers. Transfers are available from La Aurora International Airport, Guatemala City, Antigua Guatemala, Lake Atitlán, and other destinations throughout the country. The appropriate vehicle is selected according to your group size, luggage, and equipment requirements, making this a convenient option for individuals, families, and larger groups traveling with birdwatching equipment.

Our transportation partners are independent, professional providers and maintain the applicable insurance for the transportation services they operate. We recommend arranging your transfer in advance, particularly during holidays and peak travel periods.
